If someone gets sneezes by getting in contact with certain things such as dust, animal fur, or pollen grains, then that person has an allergy. Having an allergy shows that your body gets affected by certain substances that most people are not affected by. It is the over-reaction of your immune system to a substance that is usually harmless to others. The substance causing the reaction is known as the allergen. People can be allergic to multiple substances, including certain food and materials.
It has not yet been found why some have certain allergies while others do not. Many doctors and scientists believe that heredity plays a major role in saying if one has an allergy or not. But some cases show the opposite, where no one else is found to be allergic.
FACT: The first person to use the word ‘allergy’ was Clemens von Pirquet in 1906.
